You must register for courses before you can get a card. Ordering deadlines and pick-up times are listed at the bottom of this page. Returning students will use their current card.
New Students

Your student card and room key card are one card and will be given to you on your move-in day. Please have a photo ID (driver’s licence, passport, PR card, etc.) to present to the Campus Living staff at move-in. Returning Students:
Most returning students should use their same student card. If you never had a card made or did not pick it up, follow the same procedures below as new students.
If you have lost your student card, follow the same procedures as new students to obtain a replacement card. You will be charged a $25.00 replacement card fee though, when you email to request a replacement card.
Ordering your ID Card:
Just email your photo to Student Central in advance and we’ll have your Student ID Card ready and waiting for pickup!
What to do:
- Register for classes first.
- Then, from your 寻花论坛 Webmail account, email a JPG image of yourself as an attachment to studentcard@uwinnipeg.ca.
- The photo must show your shoulders and entire head and be taken straight on with your face, eyes, and shoulders centered and squared to the camera, not tilted in any direction. Think of the qualities of a , except smile! Photos are subject to approval by Student Central.
- Include your full name and student number in the email.
Tips for a great Student ID Card photo:
To ensure your student ID photo is clear and meets university standards, please follow these guidelines:
- Use a simple background. Stand in front of a plain, light-colored wall. Avoid distracting backgrounds.
- Have someone else take the photo. Selfies often don't meet the required framing or quality.
- Use a high-resolution camera. A smartphone with a good camera is fine, as long as the image is sharp and not pixelated.
- Ensure proper lighting. Take the photo in a well-lit area to avoid shadows, glare, or dark spots. Natural daylight works best.
- Dress appropriately. Remove hats, sunglasses, and headbands. Religious head coverings are allowed, but your full face must be visible.
- Look straight at the camera and smile! A clear, friendly expression helps ensure your ID is easy to recognize.
